Reiki is a wonderful Japanese form of healing brought to the west by Dr Mikao Usui  in 1937. It has been growing in popularity since that time. The knowledge and practice of Reiki has passed from one person to another ever since.
Reiki is a practice of healing the body through the transference of energy from the Reiki practitioner to the person. The word Reiki translates to Rei meaning universal and ki life force energy. The energy passed from the practitioner to the client has proven benefits and is a powerful, yet very gentle form of healing. Arizona University has done some very interesting research on Reiki with the research showing that Reiki does heal. The client may feel the energy as it passes to them but not necessarily. A Reiki treatment can be a very comforting experience and the person will be asked to lie on a couch and relax whilst the healing takes place. The healing is always given with clothes on and is a hand on experience although it can be given hands off. A treatment will last about an hour and it is advisable to have at least one treatment once a week for a number of weeks depending on the condition being treated.

Reiki can heal much more than just the body as it works on the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of the person. Reiki is a very effective and powerful healing tool.

Reiki will flow to the areas of the body that needs the healing and  will sooth pain and support the body’s natural ability to heal itself. Reiki restores balance to one’s life and body. All illness can benefit from the Reiki healing energy. Acute injuries can be helped to heal quickly more severe illness takes longer to see a lasting result. Terminal illness can be helped by giving support to both the body and the emotions of the person. Reiki will work alongside and support all other forms of healing both complementary and orthodox.
